Every Monday I spend time with my 4-year-old nephew. Normally we play and read books and I talk to him about being a big boy, helping his mother, and being a nice person. Usually I’m the one giving the lesson but this Monday my nephew helped remind me of something. I took him outside and watched...

This video was sent to me by a close friend who watched it and asked me to look at it as well. When I did, I could see the war going on inside Steve Harvey and as I listened to his words I could feel God is calling him to do some unique things in ministry. I went back to the YouTube post and read some of the comments on him and this video and it made me think; is Steve Harvey right? Is the body of Christ judgmental or are we simply holding folks accountable? Are we calling to questions the actions of our brothers and sisters enough? I’d love to know your thoughts on this. Watch the video and please share!
My Thoughts
Steve said some key things I whole-heartedly agree with. For example when you have new converts or people just finding their way to God you have to allow them to come as they are but that does not mean that they are supposed to stay that way. Let them come in snapping their fingers or dressed inappropriately but show them them the respectful way with a loving kind manner. The power of God which is His Word has tansformative properties. You see these examples throughout the bible. Look at Paul and his transformation from Saul, or Mary Magdelene, or Simon Peter, and many others. When you enter the body you are like a child the Gospel of Christ which is the power of God to salvation shoul grow you up. So yes Steve, “let him pop his fingers”! Where I differ is in the fact that the we can do or be any thing in the secular world. I think it’s a very fine line to walk on. No man can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money (Matthew 6:24) I think that when you attain a certain level of fame and fortune you have to be extremely strong in the Word to hold on to your faith. Remember in Mark 10:25 Jesus says “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” I don’t think you can do, be, or say anything and still be in alighment to God’s word. I do however think there is a way to hold someone accountable without being judgemental. I want to know your thought..
